This year (2023) marks the 30th anniversary of the death of Dizzy Gillespie (trumpet), an important figure in the history of Jazz. In 1981 he was the headliner of the first edition of the “Palma Jazz Festival” and for this reason we present this concert in Big Band format as recognition of his person and his work. Dizzy Gillespie is the composer of emblematic songs such as “A night in Tunisia”, “Manteca”, “Be-bop”, “Con Alma”, etc., compositions that are present in the repertoire of many current musicians. The aim of this concert is to publicize his music and that of other composers who collaborated with him, always with the musical vision of guitarist and arranger Antoni Miranda, who brings his personal stamp to the trumpeter’s compositions.
